Role Overview:

The Cable Inspector will be responsible for overseeing the installation, testing, and quality assurance of high-voltage (HV) electrical cables on the project. This role requires extensive experience with HV systems, including export and inter-array cable works, ensuring all works meet project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct on-site inspections of HV export and inter-array cable installations, both offshore and onshore.
  • Monitor cable lay, pull-in, jointing, termination, and burial activities, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Verify that installation and testing activities are carried out in accordance with the project’s electrical design, standards, and ITPs (Inspection Test Plans).
  • Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure all work is performed to specification and within agreed timelines.
  • Conduct and witness HV testing procedures (e.g., VLF, OTDR, TDR, PD testing, sheath testing).
  • Review and approve inspection records, test reports, and material certifications.
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure readiness for energization.
  • Report non-conformities and assist in developing corrective actions.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in line with HSE regulations and RWE's safety policies.
  • Provide daily and weekly progress reports to the Cable Package and QAQC Managers.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cable inspection on HV cable projects, preferably in offshore wind or transmission infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of HV cable types, installation methods, and associated standards (IEC, CIGRE, DNV, etc.).
  • Demonstrable experience in inspection and quality control of HV cable joints, terminations, and testing.
  • Familiarity with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations in offshore wind environments.
  • Valid offshore certifications (e.g., GWO BST, HUET, Medical) or willingness to obtain.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); Danish or German is a plus.
